Low unemployment rates are usually a good thing but it will make this particular situation more difficult on the casinos. Negotiations for this contract have been ongoing since February and the two sides can’t come to an agreement.
The last time this happened, a strike went for 67 days and it was a major cost for everyone involved. Las Vegas missed out on about $1 million a day in revenues and early projections suggest it could be even more this time around. The two sides would do well to get this sorted out before the customers start to see any type of interruption in service.
Will Hill Will Run Sportsbook For Ocean Resort
The Ocean Resort Casino, which is slated to open in June in Atlantic City, has tabbed William Hill US to run the sportsbook there. The casino, which is the former Revel and TEN properties, is expected to open on June 28. There are still some approvals to be worked out ahead of the grand opening but both sides seem confident that the deal will go through.
The Ocean Resort Casino will have some competition as the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Atlantic City is also supposed to open on June 28. However, the Ocean Resort Casino is ready for the battle as it will have a 7,500-square-foot sportsbook to draw in players. It will also have private suites for major events like the Super Bowl and March Madness.
William Hill US is well-known in Las Vegas, where it runs over 100 sportsbooks. It has also been partnered with Monmouth Park in New Jersey since 2013.
