The Carolina Panthers will try to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday with their 11th straight victory when they visit the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday with Carolina pegged as a 1.5-point road favorite at the online sportsbooks.
The Panthers improved their perfect straight-up record to 10-0 with a lopsided 44-16 win over the Washington Redskins last weekend, successfully covering their largest spread in almost two years by taking home the against-the-spread victory as 7-point chalk.
Carolina now enters Thursday afternoon’s Panthers vs. Cowboys betting matchup at AT&T Stadium with a 7-3 ATS record, while going undefeated at the sportsbooks in their past seven road contests. The Cowboys immediately benefited from the return of quarterback Tony Romo, topping the Miami Dolphins 24-14 last weekend and ending a seven-game SU losing streak.
Dallas’ recent losing skid included four home losses, leaving them with a 3-7 SU record in their last 10 on home turf. But the Cowboys have dominated Carolina over the past two decades, winning nine of 10 meetings SU, 6-3-1 ATS, and have not suffered a home loss to the Panthers since 1997.
Also on Thursday, the Green Bay Packers will try to maintain their grip on top spot in the NFC North when they host the surging Chicago Bears as opening 7-point chalk.
The Packers bounced back from their first three-game losing streak since 2008 with last week’s 30-13 win over Minnesota, drawing them even with the Vikings at 7-3, and giving them the edge in the divisional race.
However, Green Bay suffered their first SU loss at Lambeau Field in 14 games during their recent slide, falling 18-16 to the Detroit Lions two weeks ago.
Questionable decision-making inside the red zone proved to be the difference in Chicago’s 17-15 loss to Denver last week, ending their brief two-game SU win streak, but the Bears covered as 2.5-point underdogs for their sixth win ATS in their last seven.
However, Chicago has their work cut out for them to reverse their current 1-10 SU run against the Packers, including a 55-14 loss at Lambeau last season.
The Lions will also be in action on Thanksgiving Day, playing host to the Philadelphia Eagles as opening 1.5-point underdogs. Detroit followed up their recent win over the Packers with a solid 18-13 victory over Oakland, holding the Raiders to just 214 total yards for their second straight outright win as betting underdogs.
