It’s been a busy couple of months on the Las Vegas Strip with mergers, casinos being sold and now news of the biggest opening of all-time (in terms of how expensive it is). We’ll start with the latest news about the Resorts World Las Vegas as we recap the weekly casino headlines:
Most Expensive Hotel Casino Ever Built In Las Vegas To Open In Summer 2021
The most expensive hotel casino ever built in Las Vegas, Nevada is set to open in the summer of 2021. The Resorts World Las Vegas, which is owned by the Malaysia-based Genting Group, is a $4.3 billion Las Vegas strip megaresort that is being built on the north end of the Strip.
While the initial costs of the resort were expected to be around $4 billion, which would have matched the construction costs of the Cosmopolitan, additional funds have been allocated to the project that have pushed the final total to $4.3 billion. The hotel casino resort will feature a 75,000-square-foot “nightlife and daylife concept”, a 50-diameter video globe to display over 6,000 square feet of LED content, and a 5,000-capacity “state-of-the-art theater” scalable to host A-list residencies and corporate events.
In addition to all of this, the resort will feature luxury suites, villas and penthouses and a sky casino. The Resorts World Las Vegas is expected to have 3,500 rooms and a 1,100-square-foot casino with slots, table games and high-limit rooms. Guests will be able to relax at a 220,000-square-foot pool complex with several different types of pool experiences including an 1,800-square-foot infinity pool. The Genting Group paid $350 million to buy the actual property from Boyd Gaming in 2013. All eyes will be on the casino resort when it’s finally unveiled in the summer of 2021.
$2.2 Million Jackpot Hit By Slots Player At Las Vegas Strip Casino
The American dream is alive and well in Las Vegas. While most people simply hope for the best when they step into a Las Vegas casino, every once in a while, we are reminded that anything can happen with the press of a slot machine button.
The latest story comes from the Mirage, in which a lucky player hit the $2,218,046 jackpot while playing on the IGT’s Wheel of Fortune Red Hot Bells Machine. While the big winner decided they wanted to remain anonymous, their story should influence at least a few casino patrons to try their luck out at a local casino over the holiday season.
Virginia Awards Hard Rock International Major Casino Contract
The state of Virginia has awarded the Hard Rock International a major casino contract that will bring a proposed $250 million casino to Bristol in the near future. Hard Rock International was selected out of a group of potential suitors that were vying for the opportunity to run a gaming operation in the state.
The casino, which is planned to be built on the site of a now vacant Bristol Mall, will be located near the border between Virginia and Tennessee.
Hard Rock already has casino locations in Hollywood, Tampa, Florida, Biloxi, Mississippi, Atlantic City, New Jersey, Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe, Nevada, Tulsi, Oklahoma, Sioux City, Iowa, Wheatland and California in the United States. Hard Rock International also owns one in the Dominican Republic and another two casinos in Canada. It shouldn’t be much longer before we know the estimated arrival date for the new Hard Rock International casino in Bristol.
