As the World Series of Poker Europe takes places, a number of big poker tournaments are producing big winners. Let’s take a look at three notable wins from this past week.
Burns Clinches Second Bracelet At 2019 WSOP Poker Europe
It’s been a good week for Australian Kahle Burns. He has earned his second bracelet of the 2019 World Series of Poker Europe event, emerging victorious in the 2019 WSOPE €2,500 short deck no-limit hold’ em event. The win came just four days after he won the €25,500 high roller title.
This time around, the Australian survived a field of 179 entries to earn $113,036 for the win. He has now earned more than $6.1 million in career live tournament earnings. Nearly $3 million of that prize money has come in this year alone. In addition to the victory money and the bracelet, Burns was awarded 468 Card Player Player of the Year points as the champion of the poker event.
Burns has registered nine final-table finishes and three titles in 2019. Rounding out the top three, Manig Loeser earned $69,851 for his runner-up finish while Fleix Schulze took home $46,879 for placing third at this event.
Lim Emerges Victorious In 2019 WSOP Europe €100,00 Diamond High Roller
Chin Wei Lim was the big winner of the 2019 World Series of Poker Europe €100,000 Diamond high roller no-limit hold’em event. Lim was crowned from a field of 72 total entries to earn his first ever WSOP gold bracelet. He also took home a whopping $2,411,035 in prize money for the win.
Some have said that Lim was due after he nearly won the €250,000 buy-in super high roller at the WSOPE just last week. Even though he finished in second at that event, he actually earned more there, winning $1.9 million. The two cashes bring Lim’s total career live tournament earnings to $6,930,765. He has earned that number in just over five years dating back to his first recorded cash back in 2014.
Lim was also awarded 840 Card Player Player of the Year points for the victory. Considered a rising start on the international high stakes tournament poker scene, Lim wasn’t the only big winner at his tournament. Runner-up Jean Noel Thorel cashed out $1,490,129 while Anatoly Filatov took home $1,007,104 for placing third.
Ribeiro Wins 2019 WSOPE €2,200 Pot-limit Omaha Event
Another big winner from the ongoing World Series of Poker Europe was Tomas Ribeiro. The Portuguese pro took the top spot at the 2019 World Series of Poker Europe €2,200 Pot-limit Omaha event, beating out a field of 271 entries to earn his first WSOP bracelet. As a result, he ended up winning $142,429. In addition to the prize money, Ribeiro was given 432 Card Player Player of the Year points for the victory.
The win was Ribeiro’s second final-table finish of the year, giving him enough points to join the Top 500 in the POY race standings. He also became just the fifth Portuguese player in history to win a WSOP gold bracelet.
Taking a look at the top three, Omar Eljach placed second and took home $88,013 for his efforts while third place went to Marc Palatzky, who was awarded $60,814 for his efforts. It’s also worth noting that the reigning champion from this event, Anson Tsang, placed sixth after making it all the way to the final table in his title defense.
