This week’s poker news starts off with a player’s big win in the Caribbean. Meanwhile, two poker series have announced schedules, so now players can make their plans. Here’s a look at this week’s headlines:
Koon Wins Bahamas Single-Day High Roller Events
Jason Koon was the winner of the $25,000 Single-Day High Roller event, which was the highlight of the 2018 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in the Bahamas. A field of 41 players battled it out with 58 entries in total. Koon was the last of the pack, taking home a cool $421,080 for his efforts. Mikalai Vaskaboinikau came in second place with $304,580 while Timothy Adams was next with $196,500. Nick Petrangelo was in fourth place in this competitive event with $148,780 and Benjamin Pollak rounded out the top five with $115,100. The top five featured two Americans, a Canadian, a Frenchman and a Belarussian.
Koon was the star of the show and he has been red-hot of late, earning three six-figure paychecks for his work since October. He’s now earned over $11.2 million in his career with much of that success coming in the Bahamas. His biggest payday came there in January 2017 when he earned $1.65 million for winning a Super High Roller event for PokerStars.
RunGood Poker Announces Schedule
RunGood Poker Series has released its schedule. The charity-based poker series will run into the spring of 2018. Operation Gratitude is a six-stop event that will kick off on February 6 at the Hard Rock Tulsa in Oklahoma. At all of the final tables during these six stops, the players will get a special hat and they will also customize a care package for a soldier who is serving in the army as a gesture of RunGood’s appreciation for United States service members. The care packages will have a deck of cards, a RunGood bag, snacks and hygiene products. Players who don’t make the final tables can also do this for $30.
