The casino and gaming news of the week is headlined by another portion of the country looking at legalizing gambling. The state of Kentucky has moved into the spotlight as a place that could be gambling-friendly in the near future, but will they go through with it?
Kentucky Moving To Legalize Gaming?
Another state is considering legalizing gaming. Kentucky is next on the map as they’re looking at legislation that would allow horse racing tracks to offer sports betting along with off-track operators. Representatives Dennis Keane of Wilder and Rick Rand of Bedford, two Democrats, would also like to legalize casino gambling.
This is in response to the troubles being had by the Kentucky pension system, which could use an influx of money. State senator Julian Carroll would like to have this discussed in the next few months, probably early in 2018. It would take the Supreme Court overturning the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act, which was legislated in 1992 and permits sports betting only in Delaware, Montana, Nevada and Oregon.
There are a number of other states that would like to get in on the action as well, such as Mississippi and Connecticut, and New Jersey is also waiting on a decision (for sports betting). But this would be a big help to Kentucky’s pension system, which is down $60 billion and gambling could at least cut into a chunk of that. It’s not surprising as we see the story play out time and time again. Governments look for solutions to budget shortfalls and gambling always seems to be an option. We’ll see if Kentucky is really serious about it as we move into that direction as we move into the fall and winter months.
Tempobet Strikes Deal With English Premier League
Tempobet has struck an advertising deal with the English Premier League, which should give the brand a big boost. The online casino and sports betting company from England has sponsored Preston North End of the English Championship, which is one division below the Premier League, but now they’re moving on up. The multi-million-pound deal with the EPL means they’re going to be shown on advertising boards in seven Premier League stadiums. Tempobet will be shown in the stadiums of Brighton and Hove Albion, Bournemouth, Burnley, Crystal Palace, Huddersfield Town, Swansea City and Watford, and they’re still sponsoring Burton Albion, which is in the Championship. They also are in the second year of a deal with Arsenal, which will feature the Tempobet name on the side of the field for 500 minutes, which doesn’t sound like a lot. However, Arsenal is one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League and their games are shown all over the world, so it’s great exposure for Tempobet.
Habanero Systems Partners With Boss Gaming
Habanero Systems has teamed up with Boss Gaming to supply them with HTML5 video slots, including Scruffy Scallywags, a game which just came out. They’ll also team up for other games like Bird of Thunder, Fire Rooster, Panda Panda and The Dead Escape. In total, Habanero Systems will allow Boss Gaming to use 77 video slots. They also have about 20 combined table game and video poker games as well, which can be used among 21 different languages throughout Europe and Asia. It is a good deal for both sides as it expands the branding for both companies.
