A new hotel on The Strip? That’s one of the stories we’ve been tracking in our weekly recap of the casino news. We’ll start in California, though, where another basketball team has partnered with a casino.
NBA’s Sacramento Kings Partner With California Casino
The Sacramento Kings are the latest professional sports organization to jump into a gambling partnership. The NBA franchise just announced their agreement to work with Red Hawk Casino (pictured above) for multiple years, starting at the beginning of this upcoming NBA campaign.
Based on what the Red Hawk Casino President has said, the company is going to become the official casino partner of Sacramento as well. Bryan deLugo, the President and CEO of the casino, also mentioned that their plan is to bring “an unmatched all-inclusive casino and resort experience in the very near future.”
Any Kings fans that head over to the Golden 1 Center will be able to win some exclusive casino experiences moving forward. They also mentioned family getaways and other rewards of that nature. Promotions seem to be something that the two sides are excited to offer as time goes on. The Red Hawk Casino has been busy lately, as they are currently finishing two construction projects this year along. They are also planning to open up a large amusement center along with it.
Michigan Gambling Regulator Receives $7 Million
The Michigan Gaming Control Board have been doing such a good job that they’re getting a raise. The budget for the state has just been released and there was a $7 million increase in funding for the MGCB. The only step left for it to become solidified is when Governor Gretchen Whitmer is able to sign it into law.
Already there are talks of how that additional money will be spent. At the moment it is anticipated that a lot of it will be driven to a responsible gambling campaign to limit the amount of problem gambling there is in Michigan. There is also some money left open for charitable gaming events if they want to do some as well.
Michigan gambling has been doing great since its creation, which is likely why they have been given the green light to spend more money to improve moving forward. Their online casinos average about $130 million in revenue each month and their sportsbooks have totaled $6.2 billion in wagers already.
