Another UFC Fight Night is on tap for this weekend with Rob Font and Marlon Vera headlining. As always, there are a ton of exciting fights on the card to talk about and we’re honing in on the top three. Let’s examine the bouts and the odds.
Rob Font vs. Marlon Vera
The main event this week takes place when Rob Font and Marlon Vera head into the Octagon. Font (pictured above) fought twice throughout 2021 with his first fight being a strong win over Cody Garbrandt. Unfortunately, he followed that up with a decision loss to Jose Aldo. As for Marlon Vera, he picked up back-to-back victories to start 2021. The first was a unanimous decision while the other was a third-round stoppage. He is now 8-2 overall in his last 10 fights coming into this matchup, ranking inside the top 10 in his division.
You can bet that there is going to be heavy ranking changes based on the outcome of this intense battle between two great fighters in the 135-pound weight class.
Andrei Arlovski vs. Jake Collier
Now we head upwards into the heavyweight division where Andre Arlovski and Jake Collier are set to duke it out. Arlovski, a legend in the sport, is continuing to prove that his age isn’t affecting him in the Octagon. He picked up his third straight win a few months ago after defeating Jared Vanderaa. He wasn’t set to take place in this upcoming fight but was eager to replace Justin Tafa here. The 43-year-old former champion has looked like he still has plenty in the tank, losing just once in his last six fights.
As for Collier, though, he picked up his first fight stoppage since 2016 back in January against Chase Sherman. The fight improved his record to 13-6 overall. Collier may not be the flashiest fighter around but he usually always finds a way to stand tough no matter his opponent and keeps fights interesting. Collier could jump up a lot in the rankings if he takes down this ageless wonder.
Darren Elkins vs. Tristan Connelly
The battle between Darren Elkins and Tristan Connelly could be one of the best fights on the card this weekend. Both are veteran grapplers in this sport. Elkins lost in the first round of his last fight back towards the end of 2021. He is known around the UFC to be a really tough man to tire out no matter how hard you work him on the mat. Something similar can be said about Connelly. Connelly had not registered a single fight throughout all of 2020 and dipped down two divisions in the process. In his return, he lost to Pat Sabatini and then went through neck surgery. Connelly and Elkins each have a lot to prove to the fans out there due to recent losses. There is no doubt that this will be exciting.
