After a grueling 16 weeks of football, the 2019-20 NFL regular season will come to an end this Sunday. While we know the majority of the teams that will compete in this year’s playoffs, there are still some spots up for grab and a number of positions to be determined. Here is a look at the top five games on the schedule for Week 17 in the NFL.
Washington Redskins @ Dallas Cowboys
Odds: Cowboys -10.5
Dallas should be able to win in Week 17 and improve to 8-8 on the season but the only question is whether or not that will be good enough to win the NFC East. The Cowboys need a win and some help from the New York Giants against the Philadelphia Eagles. Dallas has been dominant against NFC East opponents with a 14-3 record in their last 17 meetings against them. Redskins rookie Dwayne Haskins will be out this week as Case Keenum will get the start.
Philadelphia Eagles @ New York Giants
Odds: Eagles -4.5
With Dallas in position to beat the Redskins, the Eagles are in another must-win situation against the Giants in Week 17. Philadelphia can clinch an NFC East title with a win. A loss would leave them outside of the postseason looking in. In their past 11 games against New York, the Eagles have gone 10-1 straight up.
Tennessee Titans @ Houston Texans
Odds: Titans -4.5
Over in the AFC, the Titans need a win over Houston to claim the final Wild Card spot. The Texans don’t have a lot to play for, so they might choose to rest some of their key players in preparation for Wild Card weekend. That should open the door for Tennessee to deliver a statement win on the road and secure one of the two final Wild Card spots.
Pittsburgh Steelers @ Baltimore Ravens
Odds: Steelers -2
Baltimore has already locked up the top seed and home-field advantage for the playoffs and they are going to rest most of their starters. As for the Steelers, they need this game as they’ll need a win and some help to qualify for the playoffs. They can get in with a win and a Titans loss, or if the Steelers, Titans and Indianapolis Colts end up in a three-way tie, or in a four-way tie if the Oakland Raiders are in the same mix too.
San Francisco 49ers @ Seattle Seahawks
Odds: 49ers -3
The final game of the 2019 NFL regular season will determine a whole lot more than just the NFC West champion. The winner of this contest will be crowned with a division title and if the 49ers win, they lock up the top seed in the NFC, a bye and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. If San Francisco loses, they fall all the way to a Wild Card spot.
Meanwhile, the Seahawks want to get the win this week to lock up home-field advantage and a top-four spot. They’re path to the No. 1 seed got a lot more complicated after a loss to the Arizona Cardinals last week but they can still end up first, second, third or fifth in the NFC, so they have a lot on the line here.
