The Alabama Crimson Tide are second in this week’s College Football Playoff rankings but first on the odds to win the national championship at the sportsbooks with their annual Iron Bowl matchup against rival Auburn on tap for Saturday.
This week’s edition of the College Football Playoff rankings has Clemson at No. 1, Alabama at No. 2, and then Oklahoma at No. 3 and Iowa at No. 4. Michigan State, Notre Dame, Baylor, Ohio State, Stanford, and Michigan round out the Top 10.
The latest odds to win the national championship, however, have the Crimson Tide pegged as the +150 favorites, with the Tigers then behind them at +350. Alabama sits at 10-1 on the season and is looking to wrap up a berth in the SEC title game this weekend, with Clemson 11-0 and already having clinched a spot in the ACC title game.
Oklahoma is third at +600 on the odds to win the national championship at the sportsbooks, with Notre Dame listed fourth at +1000. The Sooners, at 10-1 on the season, head into the weekend tied for top spot in the Big 12, while the 10-1 Fighting Irish need a win over Stanford on Saturday plus probably some help elsewhere in order to get selected for the four-team College Football Playoff field.
Baylor, at 9-1, and Michigan State, at 10-1, are both set at +1200 on the odds to win the college football championship this season, with 11-0 Iowa a step back of them at +1600 odds. The undefeated Hawkeyes play at Nebraska this weekend, but have already clinched their spot in next weekend’s Big Ten title game.
Ohio State, now at 10-1 after losing to Michigan State last week, is tied with Florida at +2000 on the national title odds at the sportsbooks, with Michigan at +2500. Each of Ohio State, Michigan, and Michigan State head into the weekend at 6-1 in conference play, with the Spartans holding the tiebreaker edge as they get ready to face Penn State.
Oklahoma State (+3300), North Carolina (+5000), and Stanford (+5000) round out the college football championship odds heading into Week 13 of the season. Oklahoma State, at 10-1, faces rival Oklahoma this week with those teams tied at 7-1 in conference play in the Big 12.
North Carolina, also sitting at 10-1 on the season, will be taking on Clemson in the ACC title game next week. Stanford, which is getting a visit from Notre Dame this weekend, has already clinched a berth in the Pac-12 title game but sits back at 9-2 on the season.
